Join our frontline volunteer team to help protect our waters
from Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS). With the emerging threat of golden
mussels, your presence on the shoreline matters now more than ever.
Volunteers will visit high-traffic recreation areas to share
quick, helpful guidance with the public and distribute information to
non-motorized users about the risk posed by golden mussels. You’ll also help
promote the Eyes on the Lake Program and Tahoe Keepers Program, educating the
public on the proper Clean, Drain, and Dry steps. While you’re out in the
field, you’ll tally the number of beachgoers you speak with and the number of
non-motorized watercraft you observe. We’ll provide the materials and training you
need to conduct friendly outreach and collect simple data during your shift.
Shifts are one hour long, and you’re welcome to sign up for
multiple consecutive shifts on any given day if you’d like to stay out longer.
Volunteering can be even more enjoyable in pairs or small groups - feel free to
invite family and friends to sign up and join you!
Before heading into the field, volunteers are required to
watch a one-hour prerecorded Eyes on the Lake Team Training and email
eyesonthelake@keeptahoeblue.org to coordinate picking up materials from the Keep Tahoe
Blue office between Mondays and Fridays (2877 Lake Tahoe Blvd. South Lake
Tahoe, CA 96150 or 760 N Lake Blvd Ste #7, Tahoe City, CA 96145). Please sign up for the specific location and time you are available.
