Why: Keep Tahoe Blue partnered with the Tahoe Fund to create the Emerald Bay Shuttle pilot program. The shuttle is designed to help facilitate ease of use of this amazing natural environment, so visitors don't have to deal with the hassle and dangers of parking at Emerald Bay and instead are able to schedule budget and eco-friendly transportation. This shuttle takes visitors from Camp Richardson and Sugar Pine State Park to Emerald Bay every 50 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends (with additional pickup/drop off locations added on weekends).
What: We are looking for volunteers to take this fun new shuttle out to Emerald Bay where they will then survey the visitors (both folks who have ridden the shuttle and folks who drove themselves to the site) to capture info from riders about how the experience went AND to inform folks about the shuttle who weren't aware of it as a possibility. The information from these surveys will ideally help us grow this from a pilot program to a full-time program. We will provide the paper surveys to be filled out (you will need to pick up these paper surveys from our office space located at 2877 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA - email julie@keeptahoeblue.org to coordinate pick up; please coordinate paper pick up no less than 48 hours prior to scheduled volunteer shift)
To sign up for volunteer shifts: find the shift with the date/time that is most appealing to you and press the 'sign up individually' button. Once signed up please email julie@keeptahoeblue.org so that we can coordinate a time for you to pick up the paper surveys as well as purchase your shuttle tickets for you! We will pay for volunteer's shuttle tickets there and back, but we are not able to provide parking at the shuttle drop off/pick up locations (Camp Rich or Sugar Pine State Parks).
If you are able, we strongly urge you to bike, e-bike, ride public transit, or carpool to the drop-off/pick-up points. Day use parking at Sugar Pine Point State Park is $10/day and parking at Camp Richardson is $12/day, with limited roadside parking available for free. On Saturdays and Sundays, there is an additional shuttle location, at the Y transportation center which has very limited free parking.
Volunteer shifts are currently set to 3 hours, but if you are interested in longer shifts, please let me know!
